Terrorists Break ‘Calm’, Fire 4 Rockets on Negev: ‘’

(IsraelNN.com) Muslim terrorists shortly after midnight Wednesday broke a two-day lull in attacks on Israel and fired four rockets on the western Negev, injuring none but causing damage. One of the rockets exploded next to a Sderot school, and one other landed within Gaza. One person was treated for emotional suffering as the rockets broke the early morning quiet in Sderot, which has been under attack for more than seven years.

Islamic Jihad terrorists took responsibility for the rocket firings, but analysts have noted that Hamas is purposely not staging attacks in order to create an impression that it is not to blame for pushing Israel into retaliation. However, the IDF so far has not responded to the post-midnight rocket firings nor has it responded to the Grad missile attack on Ashkelon on Tuesday.

Islamic Jihad spokesmen said the rocket attacks were in retaliation for Israel counterterrorist operations in Judea and Samaria. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on Wednesday offered a truce with Israel on the basis of a halt in all IDF operations in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
